Yoshimitsu Yamada, a direct student of O-Sensei for more than ten years, is an 8th dan and the chief instructor at the New York Aikikai. He was dispatched to New York City in 1964 which has served as his base for the development of aikido in the eastern United States and beyond ever since.

Yoshimitsu Yamada, a direct student of O-Sensei, is an 8th dan and the chief instructor at the New York Aikikai. He was dispatched to New York City in 1964 which has served as his base for the development of aikido in the eastern United States and beyond ever since.

Currently, Yamada Sensei is Chairman of the Board of the United States Aikido Federation and the Latin America Aikido Federation. He is the author of Aikido Complete and has made multiple aikido training tapes.

Yamada Sensei is well known for his clear, strong basic technique. He teaches seminars in the USA and abroad where thousands of students attend his classes.

    I don’t understand how you can say Yamada sensei was a direct student of O Sensei for 10 years.
    I respect him very much, and I like his way of practicing, but he never could have been direct student of O Sensei.
    He is younger than Tamura, and Noro sensei for example, who themselves trained only occasionally With O Sensei.

      You are right and we have removed the mention of 10 years study with the Founder.
